Farm House

The Farm House was constructed in the late 19th century to serve as the ancestral home – tharavadu – of the local Chieftain (Moopen). Much of the famed traditional architecture is still left intact with the addition of essential modern amenities.

Decorated with antique furniture and artefacts, the Farm House is certain to evoke nostalgia and makes for a perfect weekend getaway to relax and rejuvenate. In an era of condominiums and skyscrapers, the Farm House offers city dwellers a chance to sample the delights of an era and way of life which is gradually becoming a bygone memory.

It is our home away from home! The sprawling veranda of the Farm house greets you with an old style brass bell that you ring to alert your arrival. A traditional swing chair hung at the veranda, is a good spot to sit and absorb the ambience of the property. This is where the old karanavar (head of the family) would have sat to greet his visitors and workers.

Step into the house and wander through an interesting layout of rooms - the living room, four bedrooms, old style dining room and an extensive kitchen. Creep up into the attic where wood and old furniture would traditionally have been stored. Today it is a game room for the children. The house is full of interesting objects used in the olden days. Look out for the wooden baby walker, hanging oil lamps, traditional weighing scales and kitchen utensils used a century ago.
